Meet the Band
Evan
Arredondo
This bassist here. Jazzy, funky, stand up, electric, it’s allll good! From Port Arthur, Texas, Evan has played with Ray Charles, Kirk Whalum, and Earl King. He’s one of the Southwest’s most in demand studio musicians and live performers.
Joshua
Carruthers
Drummer Joshua Carruthers is the KING of groove, giving us the beat we call, “WD-40 for the hips”! He is a teacher and loves to share his knowledge of the variety of drumming styles. From CT, he’s jammed from NYC to CA, Morocco and Bermuda!
Rafe
Centuori
Our funky fam’s youngest member, Rafe is a recent UA grad and a seriously gifted bassist. A self-professed perfectionist, he has an uncanny ability to craft exclusive solos that wow audiences every time he plays. Intuitive and sharp- this boy’s on point!
Carl
Cherry
Composer, instrumentalist, music teacher, producer, Carl can do it ALL! He’s been on the scene since arriving from Texas in 1982. He’s a drummer but likes the melodic quality of the bass. Oh-and if there is a high or low note that no one else can hit, Carl can. He is an exceptional vocalist!
Ed
deLucia
One of Tucson’s most iconic players, Ed is a Connecticut-born guitarist who has enriched the jazz community in Tucson since 1982. He can play ANYTHING, and with authentic passion and panache. We are thrilled to have him in our funk- infused family.
Liz
Fletcher
Yowza. Liz plays mean bass in our “Blues Edition” lineups, and is also a sultry Funkette in the big band. Her sublime vocals have backed up Maria Muldaur and Eric Burdon among others. She’s regularly featured at regional jazz and blues festivals, too.
Gene
Holmes
Eclectic and influential, we luck out when Gene adds his beautiful guitar and vocals to the mix. He cut his teeth playing guitar for Little Richard, and will add a proper honkey tonk vibe or Latin rock instrumental on a dime, when necessary.
Richard
Katz
When it comes to keys, no one is more innovative or in demand than Rich. His rousing groove will give you an itch that can only be scratched on the dance floor! He is also an avid outdoorsman.
Gary
Love
The Doctor is a huge part of our horn-infused Sonoran Funk and Soul vibe. A member of the Tucson Musician’s Hall of Fame, he’s the sax man and arranger, and wows audiences throughout the Southwest with his signature tenor R&B smooth grooves.
Rob
Paulus
Wild man Rob is a virtuoso on the violin! He’s a self-taught musician who joined his first band in high school. A Tucson native, his gift uses vibration to describe his ebullience, and keeps our “chamber funk” progressive.
Chris
Peña
A music producer, keyboard master, and performer, Chris is on RnB fire. A Tucson local, he grew up in a musical family surrounded by cassette tapes full of jazz, soul & funk. Chris is a graduate of the Herberger Institute for Design & The Arts, and gigs throughout the Southwest and Mexico.
Mike
Polletta
An original of LHOF, Mikey is a true bluesman. He began guitar in high school and was soon sitting in on local jams. By college he was playing bars and parties under the influence of SRV and Robert Cray, Johnny Winter, Freddie King, Albert Collins, Grant Green and Pat Martino.
Aaron
Szabo
A natural on stage, Aaron “Tiburon” Szabo digs creating and sharing the rhythm. He plays both drums and percussion with equal alacrity. He keeps us jumping with his imagination and sense of humor –a boon for the House.
Tyrone
Williams
Passion – check. Sax – check. Keys – check. Vocals – check. This DC native attended Duke Ellington School of the Arts and was voted, “Mr. Ellington” by his senior class peers…the highest honor! He founded a Gospel choir, and is also a popular minister and teacher.
The FUNKETTES
Joanie Green knows music feeds the soul and it shows!🎶Up-and-coming vocalist/songwriter, Aria Ratcliff, is our latest addition. Age and Beauty, Beauty and Age…these sassy vocalists nail harmonies and add backbone to our gigs.
The LHOF Annex
LHOF is never static, the band is always on the groove, and sometimes amplifies a show with exceptional Tucson standouts like Mitzi Cowell, Fred Hayes, Marshall Jones, Mike Levy, and Matt Mitchell.
